Boosting b18B or C on an EK (searched)
Hey guys, I have been reading technical stuff for this page for quite a while, but I have to post this because I couldn't find anything that covered it searching.
Here is the deal, I have just sold my Mustang (haha) and I have $5,600 to spend on my car, an 97 Hatchback, which only has SI wheels. (Stock) I know I want to go boost, and I have found two really good deals for myself on motors to boost.
97' b18B w/ 36k miles swapped for $1500
&
98' b18C w/ 40k miles swapped for $2700
Those are the prices, completely finished and installed in my car. However, I need a kit, or something custom to throw on there while I make more money. I won't be able to get more money for quite a long time because I have to go to Europe this summer instead of being able to work, so I have to do as much with that $5,700. Thanks alot for your help and opinions.
ohh... and I need suspension, exhaust, clutch, axles, LSD... list keeps going. I want to get everything major done first.

both motors have great potential. you will find a lot of people on this board with fast setups with either motor. but if money is a concern i would go with the LS.

yeah, so I have heard. It seems like most people looking for 300whp go right for b18c from the start, but it's impossible for me to get there with stock internals on either motor.

definately not impossible. no experience from me but i'm sure other people can chime in...do more searching and you find a lot of cool setups like this one https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=370120 setup made by tony1 from Jotech. not 300, but damn near close....and that's with stock injectors and an FMU.

wow, that is badass on stock internals!!!... on tuned FMU!!!! SiCK! But looking at the b18c, 2.7k for me + turbo... I probably can't afford it because I have to do suspension as well, as well as a 2-story spoiler.. jk, nice link haha.

actually the tuned FMU is a joke because you can't tune one.... ....but hey if you can't afford it go ahead and get the ls. hit up DIRep on this board. he has an LS motor and i think he is still internally stock. made like 270-something HP @12psi and ran a 13 flat in his integra. goood ****

Correct me please if I'm wrong but isn't the Vortech SFMU tunable? Maybe I didn't skim thru that article incorrectly, but aren't FMU's tunable with recalibration kit for the most part? Sorry, I don't want to stray from the topic too much. Holla!

well i know you can change out the disc for different ratios like 12:1, 8:1, etc. i think the FMU by cartech is adjustable.
