boosting automatic? is it worth it...
im just looking for some opinions here..i have a d16y7, tranny. would installing a turbo be worth it. or would the fact that its an auto ruin the whole idea? i dont quite have enough for a swap, yet im more so leaning on saving up.

One advantage of having a turbocharged automatic transmission car is that it holds boost throughout all the gears since the throttle body does not close between shifts... provided you keep your foot on the gas.
The disadvantage though is the automatic transmission's torque converter, this is where you will loose gobs of power. Take for example the HKS v6 accord that they turbocharged. Overall, the accord only picked up three tenths of a second faster in its 0-60 time as well as quarter mile time. As soon as they hit boost, they could hear the transmission making all sorts of strange sounds. Basically when you have a regular honda automatic transmission, its made for the power that came with the car. When more power is added the majority of it is wasted as the converter tries to get itself together.
With the money you will spend on a turbo kit I believe you will have much greater results by doing a b16 or b18 swap with 5spd swap. Start saving your money.

turbo it, u can turbo for as little as 500 bucks so why not, if u blow the auto then just convert it and u will already have the turbokit. for about 1500 u could get an auto to manual swap and a tubro kit.
