Default Boosting

They say that boosting 9lbs of boost on a stock b18b block is basically the limit for saftey reasons. I bilieve this is because of the pistons and such not being able to handle anymore boost. So my question is why do i see all kinds of people boosting 12-14 on stock blocks are they just asking to blow there motor up. How safe would 10 lbs be for me. My b18b has head studs, block gaurd, turbo head gasket, and only around 50k miles on the motor. What do you guys think, can i boost 10 without any problums and how long will the motor last.

power kills motors, not BOOST! they can handle 300whp all day long.
