boosted zc

Re: boosted zc
i was boosted with a stock 1990 zc motor (dohc)
motor was stock from the factory, never been tampered with...
with 9psi on a small 't2' sized turbo, i dynod 170whp and 140wtq
fuel i was using a very poor setup, 450cc injectors and safc
upgraded to a basemap (lol) now but havent had a chance to re dyno and or tune
this adds up to be a bit less than 200hp at the crank...which is basically close to the limit for the dohc zc, so i would say unless you upgrade internals, this would be the max.
it was good for 13 sec quarter mile @ 100mph on street tires
motor has been boosted since approx 1999
was daily driven with 10psi for approx 3 years
was at the drag strip approx 10 times
autox twice
dyno once
motor is still running, waiting to install into a new shell, it out lasted the car.
before the zc i was running a stock d15b2 1.5l dx motor with the same turbo setup, only 5psi, and again, the engine and turbo outlasted the clutch and thus i upgraded instead of repairing the clutch.

Re: boosted zc
will i think not a good idea unless u plann on putting low compression pistons because the zc is is a high compression motor the pistons are dome pistons sum what like the ctr pistons

Re: boosted zc
don't listen to the guy above me. He doesn't know what the heck he's talking bout. Zc motors are 9.1 compression. Perfect for boosting. With something like a t28 turbo decent size injectors (440) and a good tune. Not street tune, a real tune. (On a dyno) you can easily put out more than 200hp with a great amount of torque. With tuning you can even daily it without worries.
DO it and you wont regret it.

Re: boosted zc
it may take 400, or it may only take 150. who knows. It really has to do with your tuning. Detonation is a gasoline engines worst enemy.
But who cares. Boost it until it blows, but please take vids.
