I did the same thing running 10 psi on a B16 with a Vortech. Lasted about 2 years before I finally found out through running a leakdown. I was alos using the Vortech FMU (shitty).

But we don't want to be stuck in the 12s...

Well unfortnately I was the tuner.
I started with a fairly soft tune... 16 deg. timing
I started with a map I had used before on more than 1 car, 2-3 pulls at 4-5psi to get a handle on the a/f's, first pull at 8-9 psi this happened. After the 4-5psi pulls I told him That
I noticed his car smoking a little in the mid to upper rev range and he said yeah it smokes a little when VTEC kicks in......maybe I should of quit there, maybe a bad tank of gas, I don't
know. I'm providing forged parts at cost and giving a healthy discount on his rebuild.

The main difference between a D@10psi and B@9psi is the big hump you see between the intake and exhast reliefs in those pistons, and the big -7cc to -10cc dish you see on d16 pistons. For the future, don't forget to gas up with at least 100 octane - even mixing it with what's left in the tank. If nothing else, a gallon of pure toluene on 92-93 octane would give you 95-96, just for a safety measure.

No faith! Put my setup in a gutted VX hatch with a tad more boost and I am in the 11's! (a few have alrady done it)

Try this stock d16z6 on for size... 308whp/262wtq... http://forums.evans-tuning.com...=2860

I bet he won't have any problems running 11's.

Looks like it actually worked out for the better... Got rid of a bad motor, to build a nice new one for cheap??? Sounds like a deal to me

Plus blowing stuff up is cool!!!!!!! lol

I have only blown (broken shift fork) one d-series tranny and that was because of a missed shift!

I haven't killed my stock tranny yet in three years of racing... many many misshifts, bad launches, 8k rpm launches on slicks with a 6-puck and heavy wheels, even running it almost empty of oil for a while... but I don't want to rub it in It's crunchy but it just won't die!
