Boosted SI vs. boosted LS?
Which of those two will make more power and will be faster? Assuming both with the exact same kit, same boost...
My guess is the B16a would have slighty more hp but the torque of the LS would make the diference in a race....what do u think?
I know now the times of a boosted LS with the search i've made. But didn't really find anything interesting for SI's....what are the times/hp/torque for the SI's under boost?

Both motors in the same chassis, with the same turbo setup at the same boost levels, I say B18B wins but closley..

Re: Boosted SI vs. boosted LS? (xxplosif1)
gearing becomes a big part of the race....SI's gearing is going to run throughh sooo FAST!!!! and the LS is just going to be more powerful! i've seen a buncha LS's with 220hp and 200lb torque at 8psi...
if the SI can get a good launch it can win....(its hard because of the short gearing and power of the turbo)
all the 1/4 mile times are similiar to all the cars.....with a t4/t3 it'll get 13's at low psi...
true that the Si would get more hp, just cause its a better flowing head.

Drag3 kit
Peak HP: 234.3
Peak TQ: 170.9
not too much torque

Re: Boosted SI vs. boosted LS? (BoM)
back when i had a manual boost controller I raced a rev hard SI when I was at 8psi on the freeway. I didn't take him down bad, but i definatly had more power then he did. I asked him how much boost he had and he said "i dont know, i only know bar and my car is 2 bar". obviously he wasnt running nearly 30psi so I have no idea how much he was pushing, but whatever it was it wasn't enough to pass me. you can check my bio for my mods.

The Si will make a few extra peak horsepower but the LS will have an extra 30 lbs of torque. Considering gearing and drivability LS will probably win.. but you have to remember you can always run more boost on an LS then an Si.. So stock for stock LS gets a nice advantage..

i'd say the LS would win. The LS has longer gearing which allows it to stay in boost longer whereas the Si is peaky with it's short gears.

ls have longer ratio gears yeah!! but rev 7krpm so the si rev 8 k but has shorter gearing
i woul say ls win in 0'60 but si will win on highway
pretty sure on this

Re: Boosted SI vs. boosted LS? (mikvtec)
mikvtec: i think the 1.8 of displacement will win over the 1.6 of the si.
Even with the longer gears, i think the boost would be fine with the long gears so the ls would still be faster than the si on the highway.....right?

hey xxplosif wazzup
well i think that 1.6doch has a bit more hp then the ls but 1.8 is more thorquy
true on this?
i bet the si win on trap speep but ls will win on 1/4
but there will be very close

Re: Boosted SI vs. boosted LS? (xxplosif1)
My bet is my past experience on beating both a turbo gsr and a boosted LS...we were all on 8psi...all very very close runs ...w/ in a couple of tenths 13.8 to 14.0 13.6 13.8 stuff like that..only like 1-2 mph difference in the b18b as opposed to gsr and si..not much difference at all..

Re: Boosted SI vs. boosted LS? (BlwnBlue)
what i seem to understand, is the more you boost on the LS the more the tranny will like it....and will be more effective. But with regular boost (6-10 psi), the gsr and sir tranny can do the work...very well.
I bet the LS had a better 60' then the two others though. But like you said, there is probably a difference but not much.
