Default boosted ls info

im more of a allmotor guy so bear with me. My buddy just finished his lst build.
some spec's: wiseco 9.1 pistons ,shot peened,chamferd ls rods,arp rod bolts ,arp head studs,cometic 3 layer hg,3-bar,walbaro 255,prescions 570's (i think he said ) ,t3-t4 turbo 57 trim i belive ,tial 38mm waste gate,10psi spring,greddy type s bov ,2.5 down pipe to 3 inch exaughst..

the car has a base map =( .... not my idea at all ,and he dosent have wide band with a/f gauge.. the car with over anything more then 1/4 throttel cuts out witch is i expected for not bein tuned, so that bein said on 1/4 throttel it pulls good to about 5200 ... told him not to take it higher or even take it to there, but i hear you boosted guys are addicted this weekend he plan on gettin it street tuned .. also not my idea, ( can lead horse to water but can't make him drink it ).. i personaly dont trust the guy but he going threw with it for a temp till he gets it dyno tuned ... was wondering what i should look for to make sure this guy aint gonna f*ck this car up I would hate to see everything to go to waste ...if it was mine i would take it right to get dyno tuned and not even drive it but he plans on runing the street tune till he can aford dyno time

sorry in advance for the headach your about to get for reading this and trying to decifer my miss spelling a$$ and poor thread composing skills

What kind of spark plugs are being used, and what are they gapped to?

is he going to try and street tune it himself? or have someone else do it? Theres nothing wrong with a street tune as long as the guy doing it knows what he's doing.

the base map may have a boost cut set on it so idiots like him don't ruin the nicely built motor by beating on it lol

not that he's an idiot, but he really shouldn't be getting on it without it being tuned.

sorry I wasn't really helpful, but it does sound like a gapping issue. when more of a load is placed on the engine and it starts to boost, if it breaks up it sounds like the spark is getting blown out.

i checked it today for him and the gap is at .41 so i left it i dont think it has boost cut because it gets to 10 psi no problem under part throttle, from what i hear the guy knows what he is doin but he only charging him 75 bucks , he is from romistuning.com dont know if anyone has expreince with him , mostly works on 240's .. im just one of those extra precautios type of ppl when it comes to my stuff so i dont wanna see him mess his up im tryna get him to save and take it to a local shop where i plan on takin mine to get tuned, but he wants to go with the street tune till he gets money, car threw a code 15 when starting i think its the msd coil imma have him put stock one on and reset ecu and c if it comes back up .. its either that or i think because when the guy did the first start up he disconected the distributor instead of pullin the ecu fuse to crank it to get oil into the turbo then started , so u can imagine the loud backfire it did

the gap should be at .024-.028 but really not bigger than that, smaller if need be, although I'm reluctant to tell you this because I'd hate to see how he drives if the vehicle were operating properly on that basemap.

How much does dyno time really cost, in the grand scheme of things? Considering what he's invested into the build, turbo, etc the dyno time is damn near free. Why ruin all the money he's already invested by even being on a basemap. My car was driven from my garage to the dyno on the basemap and only in vacuum, people amaze me.

I would take the gap down a bit on the spark plugs for starters and the other problem would be the huge hole in the mani.......LMFAO
