hey members of H-t, I have been on here for years but never actually signed up!

over the passed year i have been building a 2000 4dr sleeper. I have a built gsr with a precision 6262. and been trying to street tune a but before hitting the dyno. But I am having a hard time! im having big time ign break up in and out of boost. i replaced the cap, rotor and wire with oem acura parts, I put in a new set of BKR7E plugs gaped to .30 and have 2 grounds 4g one from the front of the head and one on the tranny.

battery was moved to the trunk 4g wire going to the front. I also did a wire tuck, all the wires were soldered together followed by heat shrink

at this point i have no idea what it could be, my battery isn't the best but still breaking up when it reading 13.8-14.2v

What RPM does it start to break up?


I would do the dyno tune, then the street tune.. and see what you come up with. At least theres a data log on the rollers

A lot of cars have wiring issues due to wire tucks. So hopefully that's not your issue. I would take your car to a competent tuner and see what's going on. Under 400whp you shouldn't have ignition issues

i was thinking spark blow out but it start at very low rpm in vac and doesn't do it as much in boost on the low cam, then gets really bad when I enable vtec. I definitely hope its not my wiring too haha only thing that I am questioning is that i got the motor timed with bad grounds and a bad throttle body that stuck. would that throw off the base timing ?

Sounds like you should get it to a Tuner. To rule out spark blowout try closing them down some and index them properly. Did you start with a basemap? Been like this from the very start? How many grounds off the battery? Sure your dizzy is good?

It's running base ign and the fuel map is almost Finished. It's Been like this from the beginning as far as I know thought plugs were bad got new plugs gaped then .30. As for the battery ground I have one 4g to the frame rail bolt. Should I upgrade? The dissy I used was was an old casting, the guts out of the obd2 d16, new Oem rotor button and cap and plug wires.

Yea, I would check your igniter or maybe coil?

my base timing was set at 16 deg. also checked my grounds through out the car and they are .4ohms resistence from battery ex. from battery to gound in trunk reads .4ohms, trany ground .4ohms, head ground .4ohms and thermostate ground .4ohms all from the battery terminal.

Gaped them to .28 see if it helps, also ordered a new coil should get it on saturday!

I would bet it is your wiring harness. Had to rip one out of a car before I could tune it yesterday because it had a hack job wire tuck. Not to say yours is a hack job, but it didnt look too bad and it was causing a breakup on a NA car. Swapped harnesses, wired alt and inj plugs. Boom . Good to go.

That's not the problem^. Like I said take it to a competent tuner and let him figure out your issue. It's most likely wiring or distributor related.

If your not wanting to take it to a tuner at least try another distributor instead of one that you pieced together.

today i took my wireing harness out unloomed it and re soldered a few joints check all the wires from the distributor through the harness and only one was extended. all the others wer never modified only i did with my wire tuck was eliminate the distribution plugs linked then all together, would that have any affect ? im getting my new coil tomorrow if this dosint fix it i will buy a new harness start from scratch.

after finishing up the harness and starting it up again .. symptoms are worst !

The problem is your wiring. I'm sorry to tell you. I see threads all the time with low hp setups that people say are "blowing out spark" but the truth is that most of the time faulty wiring and bad internal coils are the problem. More and more people are having wiring problems because of wire tucks.

update. i got a new 00 civic obd2b harness untouched changed the injector clips
and map sensor now im getting 2 codes code 6 iat and 10 water temp

But is the breakup issue still there?

yup the break up is still there, no more codes but the break up continues .. i can barly drive the car at this point the break us is soo bad :S

anywhere between 11's to 14's. im gonna try to hook up a go pro in the car see if i can catch the breakup with it and post the clip might be a little easyer to pin point the issue

i tryed my ecu uploaded my buddys tune and put my ecu in his car to see if the ecu it self was the issue. its not his car ran fine no breakup

i bought a new wideband sensor going to install in tonight or tomorrow. The sensor my be reading, but not reading accurately.?

what do you guys think?

I once had a similar problem, and it ended up being a super fine hair line crack in my dist. rotor. Check that out just in case. If all other ignition stuff is good, try gapping plugs at .018

Yeah I tryed an othe dizzy, same issue then tryed swapping out the guts oh that one for an other same issue.

I found the issue !!! It was my injectors ! One was probably not working right throwing the AF off now it runs way watt too rich with new injector getting the tune fixed up tomorrow.

See what happens wish me luck !

What are your recommendation for new injectors ? I'm thinking ID1000's !
