Default Boosted d15??

well i got my hands on a boosted eg hatch. Its a D15Z1 w/p08 VTEC head.

its got injectors, fmic, bov, Pr3 EF9 b16a ECU, ARP Head studs, 3 inch turbo back exhaust, a nice manual boost controller, and what looks like dsm turbo. its tiny.and a huge list of other obvious mods.

now, my question is how much boost could this thing hold if stock? i've hit 12psi during VTEC and it started spinning the wheels. it hits 8-10 no prob with boost up. It does not smoke, spit, sputter, no Check engine light, starts everytime and never hesitates. No carbon residue ANYWHERE. I'm guessing its tuned.very reliable. I'm wondering does this thing HAVE to be built to run so well? i don't know about internals or anyhting like that on this car, but it will start spinning the tires @ 12psi in VTEC. i'm very confused and don't know anything about these motors besides they have weak rods.

Can anyone give insight on what it takes to have a motor like this? sound built? or familiar? whatever helps thanks.

i know i sound like an idiot don't worry

In my experience stock motors have been good to me. It doesn't HAVE to be built to run like that, most of the work that comes with a turbo car is the tune. Someone can have a fully built motor but if the tune sucks, it will blow up due to detonation etc.

Like I said, the tune has everything to do with it.

that is my exact setup... d15z1 block with a p08 z6 head

im running a t3 t4 .57 and running 12 psi for now until i get my 3bar map sensor then im going to turn it up to 16..

it is very quick with my setup, even in a full interior ej1 i can flip the speedo quick from 70 to 5th gear pinned it takes about 11 seconds

the d15z1 has deep dished pistons and the z6 has a high cc head which makes your compression around 7.6:1

you can run 12psi fine all day everyday ive ran 14 on mine with stock map sensor but i dont like doing that because stock map sensor only reads to 11.2 psi and anything after that, its not tuned for

dang what both you said makes a lot of sense. like i said i'm guessing its tuned, for one, its a jdm ef9 ecu for a b16, two, it does not smoke or leave evidence anywhere. not one spec on the rear bumper. it also starts very quick like and precise, no waiting for engine to crank a couple times, turn the key and its running. thank you both for your help.

Anyone else got info? thank you
