Boosted Crower 404's?
Well I saw my new head and block today at the machine shop. I'm excited! Still a little grey on the redline issue though. I know now that I CAN take it to 8K or better but what I really need to know is should I. I saw Crower's dyno charts for the 404's but the power curve is all based on N/A setups. I saw Alpha's videos but I am still curious as to where everybody's taking these 404's to.
some one that i talked to had some boosted 404's with a STOCK bottom end and they rev'ed to 8.2K on a set up that i did to my friends car with some 405's with stock bottom end he rev'ed his to 10K, it only lasted abt a year. he bought one of those ECU's with no rev limiter and he took it to the moon and the rod bolts came apart. somewhere past 11K not sure exactly how high he took it. but don't worry if you have the valvetrain and the rods then just stop revving it whenever it stops making power
Thats what I was thinking. I figured I'd just take it up till it didn't pull anymore and then shift about 200 or 300 rpm's earlier to stay in the power band.
