The setup I tuned I left the rev limiter at 8200RPM. I did this because of the crappy LS transmission. Leaving the rev limiter at anything less than 8200RPM caused the car to fall on it's face from 2nd to 3rd shift. Torque was falling off by 6300RPM/6400RPM but horsepower was still going up at 7500RPM. This was with cam gears at 0* and a street tune jumping on the dyno at a dyno day. Never got to finish tuning the setup. Had a cracked One-Fabrication exhaust manifold, slipping RPS clutch, etc. Decided to go LS/VTEC with a larger turbo, better exhaust manifold, etc.

I tuned a buddys car with a 60-1 turbonetics t3t4, stock bottom end, and a set of crower 404s, and the car made 335@13psi on a stock 1 bar map sensor.

when it hit 7K it felt and sounded like the car had vtec, it was wild.

if you use some sort of management you can almost eliminate the lope of the cams with fuel and timing, we were using hondata and i adjusted the IACV and mod'd the timing to made it idle smooth, damn near like stock

later on we added a 3 bar map turned the boost up and made 390@16psi same turbo and set up

think i reved it to 8k

Here is a couple. I wish I had taken more. Didnt know there would be a lot of interest, hah

Driving around. Idle. Decel

Stupid old street race with a 2G DSM. The DSM also had a GT30R on it. I think 18lbs - 20lbs. The hatch was on 12lbs - 14lbs if I remember correctly. At the end something happened with the MAP sensor causing the car to go pig rich

Do you think Cryo treating them before use might help stop them from breaking?

the breakage issue should be fixed by now but i recommend cyro treating any part over heat treating

The older Crower VTEC camshafts use to snap. I was witness to this a long time ago. The non-vtec camshafts are fine

So it was the older Vtec cams? The more I read the more I seemed to only see this in Vtec motors I just assumed it was happening to all of their cams

At 8000 + RPM what is the fail point? I am doing everything I can to get it to 8 grand safely. Eagle rods w/ 3/8" rod bolts, Dual Valve Springs, Chromoly retainers, and Ferrea valves, think this will withstand 8 grand and still be making power with the 404' and 15 lbs? By the way its my thread so I am resurrecting it.

Sweet thanks for the tip. Anybody have anything to say about revving these things to 8K? I just want to know the sweet spot with boost. I've checked the LST thread but it only tells setups not powerbands.
