Default Boost Starter Questions

Finally thinking of boosting my 99 si with 124k miles...

I want to get a kit for ease of installation, but for the best price. Best kit ideas and places to get them?

Second, are light flywheels a good idea? If so, how light is best?

there are many places you can purchase a "kit" from. start by checking in the H-T sponsor section or the user market place.

i would also recomend purchasing a clutch and LSD before purchasing a new flywheel.

I was wondering if there were good places besides the marketplace that have good deals on kits..

As for the clutch, I'd most likely go with a CM Stage 3 or something similar, but I was considering a flywheel to go with it. I was looking at ACT Prolites and Streetlites, but I don't know if a 8lb or 12lb flywheel is even a good idea or not with a boosted platform.

save the money you would waste on a flywheel and put it towards getting a tune up on that car..

what is wrong with the sponsor classifieds? most of the company's in there are very reputable, and have deals that are hard to beat.

if you want to find something at a price lower than average retail, then you will have to buy used.

here's a couple I've seen when buying my new intercooler....

The sponsored advertisers do have great deals, but it sounds like he wants to look outside H-T for something.
BTW - keep the stock heavy flywheel....it works out better on launching the car.

Thanks for the replies.

I say outside the marketplace, because the deals are pretty time-sensitive, and I dont have exact timetables. I don't want to plan around a deal that isn't going to be around when I need it.

I won't be launching the car much, if at all. This car is completely daily driven, I'm just looking for some turbo fun. Would the flywheel be beneficial for driving around town?

About the tune-up, what kind of maintenance stuff should I look into BEFORE the turbo plans?

My car needs a new clutch anyway, which is why I wouldn't mind picking up a nice clutch/flywheel setup in the future.

and when your in the market for a 'kit' check the market place... best deals on teh interweb are in there. think about it, where else are you going to have large quantities of reputable vendors?
