Boost ready GSR build
Yes, it's another one of these threads.
Just want to post my plans, get some input/advice/suggestions..
I'm wanting to do at least 250-300 as a DD, but I'd also like to be able to up the boost for track and autocross. I also want this car to last though...need it to be reliable.
98 coupe
B18c1 block
stock sleeves
CP 81.5mm coated pistons (9:1 cr)
golden eagle rods
oem crank/bearings/caps
oem water pump
oem oil pump
b18c1 head
440cc injectors(brand recommendation?)
walbro 255lph fuel pump
arp head studs
I'm gonna leave the head stock i think. However, I just bought it and it does not have cams. Should I think about getting decent cams and gears(skunk2 pro or tuner), or just go with oem gsr cams? I believe I read that oem is supposed to be good up to 400hp.
Am I going to need to upgrade the clutch from oem?
I'm thinking I want to get a t3/t4 50 trim turbocharger. As for the rest I figure I may as well get a decent kit and get everything together instead of piecing it all together.

Re: Boost ready GSR build
nothing wrong with stock cams for a light build like yours. Get a nice efficient equal length kit, or manifold. 440's will work but your duty cycle will be very high. on street and autoxing 300 will probably be too much and you'll probably spin like a *****! What are you going to tune on as well?

don't need an equal length for his purpose. 270-300 is more than enough, but autoxing will be "interesting" to say the least w/ a turbosetup like that. HPDE track, on the other hand would work, but to stay "reliable" get the tune down perfect, and get good equipment for your purpose. Look at function, not just form. It will eventually look very good in the long run.
