Default boost readings at idle?

sup ya'll. i'm not boosted yet but decided to install my older model, blitz mechanical boost gauge for now to save some time for later. well, everything seems ok but during idle, my gauge reads -60hg. i was looking around and everyone mentions 18-20. is my guage broken or are the readings different depending on the gauge because mine reads in bar? btw, i did a search and i couldn't find anything that answered my question. thanx

I get -0.74 bar. 14-15psi. Seems kinda high to me.

anyone? is hg different from bar when in vacuum? my gauge reads -60 is that normal? autometers read in psi right?

the autometer reads in mm HG vacuum....... adn mine is between 18-26 depends on how hot it is out side....... but what is normal???

The readings will vary based on gauge, altitude, temperature, etc.

My Autometer gauge was always a bit off...read anywhere from 16" to 19" at idle with my old B16A2.

20 on my autometer. It's broken and will not go pass 20.

Actually, Autometer vac/boost gauges read inches of Hg in vacuum. Like Sonny said there are a few factors to take in on your vacuum readings at idle. On a general basis that i've seen, the B series motors run between 17-22 inches of Hg on a good motor at idle.

... mine only reads 15 inches of Hg... is that a good thing?... or is it a sign of a possible problem... lemme know... thanks...

it is a pretty small difference, so i wouldn't worry TOO much, but there might be a leak somewhere, and where did u t-off ur boost gauge? if you T-off everything at the same spot u won't get an accurate reading either.

hope ya figure this out!,

21-22 @750 rpm on my GSR 98 off of a SBC-iD boost controller.

i took a look at my gauge and vacuum reads at cm/hg unlike the autometer that are in/hg. does anyone know how to convert that? thanx

If you are in Colorado Springs this would be correct. You will never get 18-20 numbers at that altitude.

I think you would divide your number by 2.54 giving you 23.6
