Re: boost leaks (tissimo)
look what happens if you mis align your piston rings... thats a small hole, yet you loose a lot of compression that way. Or could rather.

Re: boost leaks (coneheadsracing)
what kind of boost leak are you refering too, like a massive one, or a small one. In my experience, they limit the amount of boost you can make.... thus loosing power. Say you normally are at 12, now you can only get 5, because you are now boosting into your engine bay instead of your engine.
Heres a question for someone. If i have a boost leak, one like above, and assuming my wastegate is still functioning as normal, would i be spinning the crap out of my turbo to make those 5 psi, vs a normal 12 with no boost leaks? I'm thinking yes, which could be very bad, no?

Re: boost leaks (coneheadsracing)
i would think in that situation your compressor wheel would be spinning out of its effeicency range, so ya it probably would be bad and would probably lead to problems. But I guess it would depend, if your only seeing 5 lbs and used to 12. The turbo would probably be spinning at a rate in which it could produce even higher psi then that. So even though your seeing 5 psi, if the leak was fixed I bet the turbo would be spinning at a rate where it would put out 3-4 times that.
