Default boost guage question

I have a 93 civic with D15B VTEC with JRSC. I have not got it tuned yet but I have a question about the boost guage. When the car is off, the guage reads about 4psi boost. When the car is sitting idle, the guage reads about 10 psi vacuum. If I accellerate, the guage will read 6 psi boost. However, I have seen it go up to about 12 psi boost. Mind you it is only a 6lb pulley.

Does this sound like a bad guage, slipping belt, etc?

Also, what are my idle readings supposed to be on the guage?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Your gauge is simply out of wack and not sitting the needle in the correct position, time for a new one unless your brave enough to open it up and set it to zero

At idle you will typically read -18 to -22

You've just discovered the inherent problem with all mechanical air core gauges...

Ok cool. Is it that much of a chore to open up the guage and reset the needle? Will it still be accurate?
