BOOST CREEP on pump gas...help guys!
Hello guys,
As most of you already know from my ongoing thread here in forced induction I've had some very very bad luck with my build this year. From the tranny blowing up on the dyno on pump gas then having a brand new engine destroy bearings after 900 miles of street driving.
Anyways, the car was back on the dyno today thanks to guys at Slowmotion Motorsports. The entire setup is brand new for 09 with the newest edition of skunk 2 tuner 1 cams. Corey was telling me the spool time increased by 300-400 rpms and seems to be pulling VERY hard.
On to the topic of discussion. He called me and said that we were having the same problem as before, boost creep on pump gas. He said the gate was opening at 11-12psi then creeping to 20psi by 8k so he didnt want to rev it any higher....
As a temporary solution we're just going to put race gas in it and tune it with the creep so I can at least get the car tuned and home to fix some issues. Now, the car has my(RMS) vband ramhorn with the tial 44 gate and vband gt35r .82ar. Corey said that with such a free flowing setup like mine the gate just cant keep up.
I need some options here guys never had this problem in the past. Car also has aem boost solenoid controlled by AEM. Thanks a lot!
Ryan

The tial 44 worked well on my ramhorn setup but that was with full exhaust. Twin gates is going to be your best bet.

Thx guys....we're going twin disk sometime in the next few months along w the second wastegate...
Check out my other post in forced induction...car was retuned today and made 575whp on just 21psi!!! Skunk 2 cams ftw

NO the wastegate is perfect...we switched spings a few times and everything was perfect...the gate is nearly brand new as well

Re: BOOST CREEP on pump gas...help guys!
ive had this issue on a few different 35r setups on my old engine, i even bought a used gt30r setup from a friend that held 9psi on different engine, put it on my setup with a 13psi spring it wont make anything less than 486whp at 16.5 psi.
most gt35r setups on quality engines dont like to make low boost on a single gate, i always advice a dual wastegate setup for this reason.

Not to be a broken record, but I'm guessing I'm not the only one who has experienced a real similar situation with my SC6152, since I think they're almost identical to a GT35r in terms of the wheels? Finally I found a nice combination of exhaust (3", but still more restrictive than some), spring pressure, and high RPM creep that I can live with.

its poor wastegate placement, i used a 35r and a single 44 and it held 12-13 psi with no problem to 8500.
the full-race tear drop is what fixes ram horn boost creep

Weld a plate inside the collector that will promote exhaust gases to go into the wastegate, or cut the elbow off and tear drop shape it.

lol I've also heard of the teardrop mod not working a setup like mine from a couple ppl on here who pm'd me. We're going twin wg....that way I can run 10psi and actually hook in 1st and 2nd

Re: BOOST CREEP on pump gas...help guys!
i did the teardrop on my manifold and it helped alittle but i still get bad creep at 8,000. Can you do a 44mm and a new 38mm gate or do you need to do both gates the same size?

im going to run twin 44's but i would def want to run the same gates both the vbands.
Keep in mind we have a 11psi spring in it and its creeping to 21psi by 8k. Once we get the boost to hit 21psi around vtec engagement well see huge gains in the midrange.
