Default Boost controller question

OK I'm trying to get my turbo stuff straight. Learning things here and there. But one thing I'm confused with to this day is... CAN A BOOST CONTROLLER LOWER BOOST... lower than the w/g spring i mean. Thing is I have a DSM T-25... some people saythe w/g opens at 10psi... some say aroudn 7-8psi. If it were 10psi I was thinking I'd have to get a new canister w/ a lower psi spring from TEC but someone told me he tried that and that doesn't work. So i'd need a whole new w/g actuator assembly. So question is... can i lower the boost w/ a mbc or ebc or can it only be raised?

No. lowest boost is whatever your wastegate is set at.

I have a question.

If you have lets say a nice tial wg with a .45 bar (6-7psi) spring... and you get a electronic OR manual boost controller and set them at 7psi... would this help the turbo spool/hit max boost sooner since your not relying on the wg spring and "leaking" like the wg would? Just curious.

yes, if you have a EBC or MBC, thge WG stays shut until the preset boost you had set it on your BC....instead of using a spring loaded controller in a WG...

before I installed my AVC-R, my WG start letting off at 4psi with a .45 bar spring, I can hear it so early while building boost...

then I installed the AVC-R, the WG stayst shut until .55 bar, then it's open all the way like a V8 on crack, kicking all the street cars out there...
