Default blue smoke plume out of exhaust on 94 turbo gsr...help!!!

i just recently bought a 94 gsr turbo...t3/t4 built motor with about 30k miles on it...i bought it in Miami and on the drive home my friend following me noticed that on deacceleration blue smoke would come out of the exhaust ..esp when the car was cold as it warmed up it became less and less but i know that it has something to do with oil...but what is it most likely...i have been told that it could be the piston rings...a gasket..or something deep inside the motor, i was also told that it could be the turbo....if anyone thinks they know what it is or how to fix it or if its even a major thing could you please let me know...im going to get the car street tuned and dyno tuned on Wed and i think they are going to take a look at it but i know that alot of people on here know absolutely everything about cars so please help me out thanks!

It could be alot of different things, take a piece of paper and have someone hold it real close to the exhaust tip and rev the motor up, if there is black stuff on it it is probably oil.
I know when I blew my turbo seal, my car was one big white cloud of smoke. Someone will probably help you out a little more than I could.

a couple hundred bucks, there is a turbo repair company like 5 minutes from my house, its just the seal but you should get the whole thing rebuilt just to be safe (what I would do)

If it's only on decelleration it makes me think it's blowby past the rings.

Depends on how much labour you can do yourself, but no more than a couple hundred.

possibly blowby......is the car burning oil? I would keep checking it daily just to be safe. Also if your car has a valvecover breather, is there oil on it?

i dropped it off to get tuned today the tuner seemed to think it was the oil rings and that was causing the car to run rich and smoking but he thinks that tuning it wil solve it so i guess we will see

the oil rings will not cause you to run rich. what are you tuned on? have you changed anything on the car after you tuned it? if so, after you fix whats wrong, retune it for the new mods so it wont happen again.

If it's deceleration that sounds like the turbo is shot to me. That is exactly what happened when my turbo went.

if its decceleration it definitely sounds like a turbo problem....i got mine rebuilt at a local shop for less than $100...however if it happens under acceleration it could be blown rings ...or also like mine blown ringlands
how much boost were you running?

...also you might want to check for any kinks in the return line off the turbo....and backpressure caused by a kink causes oil buildup in the turbo which will burn off through the exhaust

Burning oil decel means it's pulling oil under heavy vac. Could be the turbo seals, oil control rings, PCV valve, or the valve seals.

alright just got it tuned...everything is running perfect now and i was happy with the numbers..i currently do not have a boost controller but the car at 9.5 psi put down 250whp/180wtq.....the tuner said the car put up great mid range power...also the increase in power was crazy before tuning he said it was running about 202 hp and after tuning it hit 250 which is a great increase...anyquestions just let me know!

burning oil on deceleration is caused by excess vaccuum in the cylinder pulling oil past the valve guides....

Burning oil on acceleration is caused by blowby gasses burning oil in the pan and on the cylinder walls because of loose rings.....with a turboed car this could also be caused by the seals on the turbo losing oil and smoke would appear.

Figure out if the turbo is burning oil or the engine.....

it was burning excess oil he did some work and then tuned it and it pretty much cured everything but he said it was nothing major and he said not to worry about it...so im not...
