blown GT30R turbo after less than 1 k miles
well i got the new head on and checked everything twice started her up and big cloud of smoke .. thought it wwas a leaky hg but nope pulled my turbo off and found quite a bit of oil and a puddle under the dp..
i have street tuned it and ran for about 300 miles had a day of dyno time and 4 passes at the track.. and this happens..
puddle of oil from the dp
started it up with no turbo on it and didnt smoke a lick.. why do you supposed it went so fast
if you have seen my setup yah i have it watercooled and oil cooled using a stealthmode oil ine kit. striaght shot to the oil pan on the return

What size oil feed restrictor? Any pictures of the oil feed restrictor? Any pictures of the return to the pan? Need to make sure you take steps so it wont happen again. I had a larger dbb turbo on a customer's car do similar. Didnt have a restrictor. Straight -3 feed. Put a restrictor on the new one and so far so good

So what's the story on it? Why the "tuff **** customer" deal?
It's true that BB turbos are particular about having too much oil pressure, but I've never seen a shop that gives much direction in how to measure oil at the turbo beyond some basic PSI of engine oil pressure.
What kind of restrictor are you running?
I don't know the BB turbos very well - Blaast will definitely give you an opinion on it, but I think you've got to go in there and press off the bearing races, which make it expensive.
I've been thinking about a BB unit myself, but I've had issues with journal bearing turbos and don't want a $1k paperweight...

I'm surprised your d-series lasted longer than that turbo.

What brand turbo is this and is that fitting a restrictor fitting? From the looks of it, it isn't and also looks like a -4an line.

Re: blown GT30R turbo after less than 1 k miles (PrecisionH23a)
your turbo is fine, get a proper sized return line
you built up oil pressure in the chra so it started to leak, not a big deal really
