Blowing off I/C piping.....HELP
Ok........
Ive been boosted with the drag kit for over 2 years now, never had a problem with this. Well tonite, the ****** blew off. the pipe that comes directly into my compressor housing. the Coupling is staying on the compressor, but the pipe wont stay in the coupling, it keeps blowing out.
I only run 6-7lbs MAX. I went home and put it back in, but 5 miles down the road it blew off again. im just running the shitty *** stock hose clamps.
Im wondering if a "T" clamp will solve my problem? what do you higher boost guys use. also, i noticed some oil on that pipe and around that coupling..........is this a sign that my turbo is blowing oil into my compressor?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Blowing off I/C piping.....HELP (Mr. Vapor)
You should check your turbo condition. Seems to me like the coupler is seeing oil. Hoses don't just blow out at 6-7psi with the regular clamps. Unless of cause the clamps you got is really fucked up.
When and if you put that coupler back onto the turbo housing, make sure it's nice and clean of anything.
beading is a good idea but not necessary. If your silicon couplers are in good condition then you will not should be safe.

Well Im not sure if you would want to do this to your intercooler piping but the guy that welded up my piping painted it black with this certain kind of spray paint. Anyways its almost like glue to the couplers and that junk doesnt come apart. I dont have any kind of beads welded on the ends of the piping and it holds up fine and has seen 13psi several times.

Re: (SoHc10Lbs)
Ive heard people slightly Mist Hair Spray over the pipings, before you put the coupling on.. (SLIGHTLY MIST/SPRAY it) Goodluck. But dOh, clean off all the oils, Im sure that can create lots of slipping and sliding..

Just pick up a tube of quicksteel. Its like jb weld, but its like a putty.
Just roll in in your hands until you get a long thin piece of it, (cmon,
im sure most of us used to play with clay or playdough as kids) and
make a cheap easy bead on your pipe. Works like a charm.

use saltwater...add salt + water...put it on the IC piping and cupling...drive it till the IC piping gets hot...and when it does the saltwater will act like a glue..pros use that...

I don't know about everyone else but this is the worst advice that I have ever read. Hope this is suppose to be funny but then again I'm not laughing. Maybe I need to get laid.

To give that JB Weld or what ever you will use for the bead, lightly sand the area where it will be applied. I believe the piping is like chrome or something and that does not stick too well on it.
Just to give it that extra grip.
Hope this helps

Re: Blowing off I/C piping.....HELP (CRX T-Si)
I'm kinda paranoid about the jb weld chipping off or flaking or sometihng. On one setup I did, I used 3 small screws with a round head. I just screwed them into the pipe about half an inch from the end. They basically acted as small beads so the piping wouldn't slide off.

You guys go through to much trouble, KISS
I use regular silicone couplers, T bolt Clamps, and they see 15 psi daily and I have never had a pipe blow off in 7 months.
