Default block shelf life?

is there such a thing? a friend of mine who has been in the airforce for 2 years has an assembled sleeved block that has been sitting since he left. finally he realized he's never going to build another honda so he wants to sell it. the block was built by jg and ran it for very little. not even the break period. so, is there a chance i can just run the block or will i need to take it apart and re-lube. also would the walls rust from just sitting indoors at room temerature?

last thing, anyone know how i can contact a former employee at jotech named arthur

It should be fine as long as it wasn't stored in damp conditions. I recently sold the high compression N/A motor that's been sitting in our showroom for a couple years. I took it apart to go through it because i was worried about that too, but it looked brand new! Oh, and Arthur works a CTC Motorsports now....

cool thanks. he said it had been stored indoors with a/c so it should be ok then. I forgot to mention it doesnt have an oil pan...would that make a difference? I talked to him earlier and he told me that mike said they used darton before so they're not jg sleeves.

is there an advantage to sand/bead blasting the piston tops? if not that would mean those pistons have been used before right?

ductile iron, which is probably what your sleeves are made of, has a tendency to rust. a simple visual should be able to tell you the condition of the block.
