Block!
I have a 2000 gs-r motor and one of my friends has a 97 gs-r block he said he would give me his block now and trade blocks later once I get it back from golden eagle to get sleeved. I just wanted to know if there is any difference in the block's?
Thanks

Re: Block! (hondavtecsi)
they are the same block.
But why dont you just send HIS block to be sleeved and when it gets back give him your 2000. The 97 block will be practically brand new once its gets back from GE, and it would be nice to give your friend a lower mileage block for helping you out.
Something to think about. That way you dont have to pull your motor twice.

That is what my plan was. Would it be ok to swap the crank, bearings, etc. from my block onto his block once it gets back? My motor has 20k on it.
Thanks

Re: Block! (hondavtecsi)
yes, you can swap the crank *edit* they need the mains.
Bearings I would get new ones, you are putting all this money into your motor don't skimp, I did and now im paying for it.

Re: Block! (foozball-26)
So I should send the whole block i.e. (pistons, crank, etc..) to Golden Eagle? Would they install pistons, rods, bearings if I sent them with the block or do they order it once they have my money? What are the best pistons and rods for running about 13-15 psi daily could I bore it to 2.0? What else would I need to make the block as strong as I can make it for reliability? What kind of money am I looking at to have all this done?

they CAN build your motor for you, they have packages that they posted a while ago. I told you wrong in an earlier post, they need the main caps not the crank, got mixed up in my words. but if you send them your complete block and purchase some rods and pistons from them it will make it easier to get everything done at once.
for 13-15 psi daily you need forged internals, sleeves for reliability, and new bearings, gaskets etc.
you're looking in the neighborhood of $4,000 - $4,500 for everything depending on what brands of internals you choose.
this is of corse w/ all the stuff balanced and such. Call GE and get some inf o on thier packages they can tell ya better than I can.

Re: Block! (hondavtecsi)
This is a dumb question. Will all of the 2000 gs-r parts off of my block fit a 97 gs-r block? Just want to make sure.
Thanks
