The PCV valve is on the top of that black box. It is a smog control device

The bottom of it is held in place by one of the bolts that holds the factory "header bracket" on.

you are referring to the oil seperator tank, goes from the block to your PCV valve.

Nope. not an oil cooler. It simply seperates oil from blowby and lets the blowby get sucked into the intake manifold and the oil to remain in the crankcase. man, I hope this doesnt turn into another PCV discussion.

well if you take that box out, there will be a very large hole in your crankcase,a nd lots of oil all over the place. however, if the box is still in place but the top line isnt connected thats not a big deal, it just means your PCV system isn't hooked up.

the black box is held in with the bracket fo the eader (the bracket with the 2 bolts on it,) when they hung the downpipe i guess they didnt thing the bracket was connected to anything so they took it off. and yesterday when my car was smokng liek crazy that was the box popping off...and spraying oil all over the place hence the smoke. now the car runs awesme! had me scared i thought it was a crack in the oil pan or something phewwwww im releaveed aint nuthing liek the 2ecod day scare
