Billet Ball Bearing Turbo Concerns HELP.
Hey guys, i'm kind of in a panic. I bought a new Comp Turbo CT43-6767 Billet Triple Ceramic Ball Bearing (Triplex) Turbo. I think there is something wrong with it or it is not a even Ball Bearing.
When I spin it by hand it is TIGHT. It will not spin freely at all.
I have compared it to a few Precision Ceramic DBB Turbo's. It is not even close!
The Precision Units spin much more freely.
So my question is. Should my Ball Bearing Spin nicely by hand? Or should it be pretty Tight, it stops IMMEDIATLY.
Please give me your opinions let me know the characteristics of your Ball Bearing turbo.
This tightness just doesn't seem like a $2000 Ball Bearing Turbo

Regardless of cartridge, some oil needs to circulate throughout the cartridge in order to "free up" any tension that you might be feeling. Very few ball-bearing turbos "spin" freely for 20 seconds right out of the box. Even if it doesn't, that does not automatically mean that it won't work successfully for your setup.
Comp's "Triple" ball-bearing system never did make much sense in its design. Its not like a computer processor where more bearings = faster movement. (Triple core, quad core, 6 core , Core Duo.., get it?), and have a hit or miss track record. Definitely better than E-bay, but a lot of promises, and only 70% delivery of that promise. They used to be ITS, but no longer.

That's what I am thinking is the extra Bearing could be what is creating the extra Drag? Hopefully that is it. A friend made me very nervous when he said that Tightness is not normal.

Sure I am just being overly Nervous and it just needs a few cycles.
Thanks for your help Shodan. With yours and a few other friends advice, I am gonna keep this beautiful piece and hopefully have a Blast with it next year!

This Turbo worked ******* fantastic! I think it being ceramic bearings in a steel race. The race needed to expand from the *****.. When it was heated and engine off I swear you'd just look at it and it would start to spin. This Turbo definitely delivered what I paid for.
