Re: better tranny for turbo (ARAXIS)
Give us a graph of the dyno and we can tell you which one is best. No one should be able to just tell you xxx one is good without knowing what engine it's attached to.

Not if your drag racing... Should be able to cross traps in 4th with b16 tranny. At least I do.

WRong. I run 10.10@146 in my ITR equipped tranny. Shortest geared tranny is going to accelerate the quickest. IF your suspension/boost controller/traction setup sucks......that's another story. Put a LS 5th gear in there for cruising.
Unless you physically will out mph the tranny, get the shortest geared one you can that will work with your setup.

I agree I run a B16A tranny and best of 10.43@139mph so far. It all depends on your motor set up BUT don't let these IDIOTS tell you get an LS tranny is better because the gears are longer and you will stay in boost longer HAHA which means you will accelerating slower! If you have an LS maybe the LS tranny works best for you on most the GSR, ITR or B16A trannies work AWESOME , again about your powerband and set up. It would suck to have a 2k RPM powerband and have an LS tranny lol
Edit: I do believe you want the tranny that will put you at the top of the gear at the finish line

Exactly, and most will finish topping out 4th (ideal), if not you could always go with bigger tires to help you stay outta 5th.
I think I got that right.

I will be using an itr trans and traction bars with my 300-330hp build so we will see how it works. I should know in a lil over a week how traction fares on street tires..........

Re: (slooogsr)
in all actuallity it depends on what tires you will be running on the street, if your running a drag radial then sure stick with the stock b16 (with aftermarket lsd if possible) but if you have street tires i would recommend a gsr transmission as the slightly longer gearing will help you hook up...... power and gearing is worth jack **** if you cant put it down
granted a b16 trans would probably be best for the track but he is talking about a "street" car

Re: better tranny for turbo (ARAXIS)
go with the LS because you will stay in boost longer. for example, lets say you have a GSR tranny and 350hp and you finish the 1/4 mile in 11.5 seconds... you were in boost for 11.5 seconds. if you have an LS tranny you will probably run 12 or 12.5 so you will be in boost for a whole extra second! LS FTW!!!
but seriously, i would NEVER use an LS tranny for anything. i have a GSR tranny and it is perfect for the streets and track. if you speed alot on the freeway then the LS 5th might be nice.

I love them for road racing. In fact, I change the final drive in my turbo applications.

i disagree, weather its 150whp or 700whp b16 or gsr is fine. i cant see why you would ever want to use an LS trans, drag racing or for street.

Heres been my experience so far with the usdm itr trans.......
Running about 9lbs (dyno results in sig) as soon as i hit vtec in 2nd gear it spins the crap out of my POS toyo proxes. 3rd gear hooks like crazy even with the shitty tires. I have some new Kumho SPT's going on sometime next week as well as an alignment etc. I will see if 2nd gear is any better.
You can really feel the lsd and the traction bars work wonders in 3rd.
We were havin problems on the mustang dyno spinning my crap tires on the rollers. At 12lbs of boost we couldnt get a full pull because of them. I imagine the new tires should be night and day but i will post up results when i find out.......

What is your setup? Our numbers are almost identical, but I have a GSR trans. When I hit VTEC in 2nd the tires spin, but the severity seems to vary by road surface. Sometimes they go up in smoke other times it sounds like I'm running over lots of mice or birds. That is with badly worn/beat Parada Spec2s. I have some new tires waiting to go on, just gotta smkoe off all the tread on these.

I think you'll be happy with the GSR tranny. I love it on the street, though I have nothing to compare it too so I could be way off.
What dif you going with?
