Re: best turbo blanket
I have nothing but good things to say about my PTP blanket, but only had it for less than 500 miles but looks brand new still... No discoloration and I can place my hand on the blanket and hold it there...
As for what it's made out of here is the list:
PTP Turbo Blanket Specs
Silicone Impregnated Fiberglass (Outer)
Stainless Steel Knitted Wire Mesh Inner Liner
Stainless Steel Capstan Rivets
Stainless Steel Lacing Wire Fastening
Calcium Magnesium Silicate Wool (Inside)
Heat Ratings:
PTP Turbo Blanket Heat Ratings
Melting Point (Inside) : 2680 Deg F / 1470 Deg C
Max Temperature Rating (Inside) : 2012 Deg F / 1100 Deg C
Continuous Use Limit (Inside) : 1832 Deg F / 1000 Deg C
Direct Use Limit (Outside) : 1000 Deg F / 538 Deg C Radiant Heat (Outside) : 1700 Deg F / 927 Deg C

Re: best turbo blanket
well, i think my mind is made up. now my next question is, which blanket would be right for my PTE6262? i would think its a "medium" sized turbo, but don't want to buy a blanket that is too big. i know the 5557-6262 are the same exact sizes on the outside

I plan on getting a PTP if they would answer their pm's or return an email...I have a hectic school schedule so calling them becomes a pain in the *** lol

Re: best turbo blanket
This fall I was able to get my turbo'd street car down the track. I had wrapped my stainless steel wire aka "safety wire" to snug boot around the turbo I happened to loop it around the manifold also. The car wheel hopped to the extent of breaking two bolts out of the turbo to mani flange and the other two bolts were gone. If I wouldnt have looped the SS wire, my exhaust and turbo would of hit the ground. it burned the boot a little but saved me much headache.
