Best t3 flanged turbo for 500 whp?
Like the title says I was wondering what the best turbo would be the best to use with a t3 flanged manifold and expect 500 wheel?
Im running a t3/to4e 57 trim with a 63 a/r. Its bolted to a rev hard cast manifold right now making 412 whp at 18 psi. And Im looking to upgrade, any ideas? Advice?

Sorry forgot to add more details. The engine is a ls/vtec with je pistons, eagle rods with 9.5:1 compression and a PnP gsr head.
I defintly am going to buy a new full race top mount manifold with either a 3" or 4" downpipe and its tuned with hondata

you have not maxed the turbo out at 18psi, crank the psi up for more boost. what brand turbo is it? even if its a ebay turbo, people run them 28psi.

Re: (Max500)
I would think getting rid of the rev hard manifold and upgrading to a top mount will help with your figures anyway at the same psi. Plus you can increase the pressure with that turbo.

Yeah, if you want to make 500 WHP, then add 200 more WHP on top. Too laggy for "only" 500 WHP.

there are a lot of turbos that would fit in this area nicely...be sure to look around before deciding on one. For this power goal, dont feel like you're forced to chose a ball bearing turbo....that seems to be the standard answer whenever someone asks this question. Think about your budget, goals for the car (streetability, drag racing, etc) and let us know...
The one thing to remember about the GTr series, even though they're a great turbo, they're not perfect. They cost about $1300-1400 after all the water line fittings and all the extra little parts and you have to be very careful not to damage them in any way because they're not rebuildable....that fact alone scares me away from them.
Check into the SC61 series, the Borg Warner S258 and the STC Silver Surfer. All of those turbos will meet your power goal and spool relatively the same as the GT30r....some options are cheaper than others....

Re: (Mr Wonderfull)
Thanks for all the advice guys i appreciate it.
I wanted to get around 500whp with a little more room for improvement if needed. The biggest issue i was worried about is the lag, I wouldnt want to be stuck with a laggy turbo on the streets.
So all of the ones listed would fit a t3 manifold? Thats the one thing i have problem understanding and figuring out, what turbos will bolt certain flanges.
Right now I have a Turbonetics turbo with the trim and a/r's i had mentioned before. I was under the assumption that it was only efficient up to 450 crank with my set up now.
And yeah I was hoping that i would be able to obtain some more power just by upgrading my manifold and the rest of my exhaust set up. Thats the main reason i wanted to stick with a t3 flanged manifold so in the downtime I could bolt up my current turbo and see what paower it makes like that

My $.02 is to NOT get a top mounted manifold. You are just going to induce more lag. I good shorty will make 600hp and give you great throttle response.
The STC Silver Surfer is a GREAT 400whp pump gas turbo and turn it up on race gas and it will make 500whp. AND they look damn sexy.

Im down for the t3/67 you can make 500whp with less then 20psi
your motor will like that better then a 61mm turbo cranken 30psi @500whp (bad for the turbo too)
Lag time is for ******* street/rollracers

wah, wah, wah. It's going to be on race gas anyways, who gives a **** if you push a few more pounds of boost into it? An SC61 will make a hell of a lot more than 500 WHP at 30 psi, an SC61 is good to about 650 WHP!

Only reason i say this i been there with a t3/60-1 I made 480@20psi and 510@32psi it was ok for the time Its the turbo i started with 3 years ago..
hell i was the the second fastest fwd power street car behind clutch masters integra
Thats alot of usless heat you are making not to mention beating the trust bearings on the turbo
To add to that the bigger the turbo the better it is for your motor...**** just flows

Re: (fmfkid250)
Thanks again, you all gave me a lot of more ideas and a lot of directions to go in. Ill just have to do more research on all of these different turbos and decide which is best for teh direction i want to go.
Also how much power are the stock sleeves built to handle? As of now internally all my engine consists of is je pistons eagle rods making 9.5:1 comp with a PnP head all bolted together with ARP.

Re: (rdssk8rcs1)
im assuming you have a turbonetics turbo that came with that RH kit, why not just upgrade your turbo? with a 60 trim wheel on the cold side a stage 5 wheel on the hot side and a .82 housing? you should be able to do 500+ with that wouldent you? grab a meutek manifold while your at it. the RH is a pos unless you have the non-ac model.
