best compression for LS
hello guy at honda-tech i have just purshase a ls motor for a project i was wondering what compression should i go with i have been reading up on this but haven't found what i needed to know. people say that if you know nothing at all about tuning go low compression but if you do know tuning then go high but not to high so i was thinking about 10:0:1 or 10:5:1 what would be best choice for me. don't forget this is for a daily driven car.

why do people say its hard to tune high-compression?? I thought the blue civic from H-Heaven had like 10.1 and was running 28psi??? I would like to know more about this?

i don't know if this will help you answer your question, but if you are talking stock to stock motor b18c to a b18b, and boosting it both, it takes less psi to gain more whp than the Ls having to have more psi and roughly the same whp or a little more. Thats how I came up with a non v-tech motor with wanting to having somewhat of a high compression engine. sorry if that didn't help, but thats why i am asking what compression should i go with. Thanks.
I have 8.8:1 compression in my LS setup (Wiseco pistons) and it seems to work fine. A little turbo lag at low end, but once I hit BOOST....hold on tight!!! I could have left it at stock 9.2:1 compression but that was my preference to lower it. With proper tuning of an engine management system, you should have no problem going with any option --- higher , stock, or lower compression.

What were you trying to implying with this lame comment? Don't tell me you're one of those ignorant fools out there that thinks a VTEC powered Honda is always stronger and faster than a Non-VTEC one. Might want to watch what you're saying because there are plenty of cars out there that will outrun YOU and your VTEC car.
for ignorance!! Oh yeah, by the way... I just hope your "TT" at the end of your nick doesn't mean twin turbo...because I KNOW that is nearly impossible!!!!!

RACE GAS. It takes C16 to run 28 pounds of boost on a 10:1 motor. Mind you, it takes atleast some 110-ish octane to run 28 pounds of boost on a 9:1 motor, but you can run a lot more boost and make a lot more horsepower on pump gas with 9:1 than you can with 10:1.

Umm, first reading owns you. He wrote it's vtec, because the guy spelled it "vtech". Second a Twin turbo LS or GSR isn't impossible. Some guy on honda-tech twin turboed his. He even tried to sell the kit here on honda-tech, can't remember if it sold though. His name is "whitey" i believe on homemadeturbo.com
