you need to check out http://www.goldeneaglemfg.com they do pretty nice work, better than benson's IMHO.
I have a Bensons full metal jacket block...and it has taken the abuse of 18psi and 405 hp like a champ. Not a single complaint.

i have also heard bad about bensons. about 50/50. i'd watch getting sleeves for street use. sometimes they don't last long. good tuning will help your motor last, with or without sleeves. be careful.
Here's the deal on Bensons. Dan is doing all the machine work himself now. Quality is perfect. There was a time when he had some employees doing the machining and I heard the quality dropped off. If you bring him any of this previous work, he will fix it for free. He did it for me! Call him at (714) 241-1284. If you get the machine, leave a message. He calls everyone back. He has gone out of his way to do some custom work for me and has gone way out of his way to answer all my questions.
As far as Golden Eagle, I talked to the owner at the race at Palmdale last week. His sleaves looked great, he was knowledgable, friendly and helpful and his prices looked great. Either shop is a solid choice.

Benson will assemble your bottom end. I think he charges about $300 for the actual assembly. I would assume he has a warranty if something were to break because of his fault but if you went and blew up your motor because of a bad tune up, I would assume you would be on your own. Machinists that are as experienced as him can usually look at a broken piece and tell you what went wrong. Benson is friendly and is not egotistical at all, so give him a call. I'm building my own motor but it's much easier when you have sources to fall back on when you have a problem.
I think Golden Eagle is just a manufacturer so you would probably have to find someone else for assembly. Too bad you don't live in SoCal.
