Default Benson Sleeve Question

Why do some of their sleeves look like this...

and others look like this...

I'm just curious about the gold ring in the first one and not in the second one... Is one an older version or something???

Thanks
Corey

Very simple the first pic is with a copper O ring installed and the second is without one. It would be a customer request to have the O ring or step deck, step deck has the sleeves slightly higher than the deck for sealing purposes, usually between .001" ti .004" above the deck

They're not, look close, the O-ring is simply sitting on top of the cylinder, you can see that they are the same if you look just under the copper part

The O-ringed one is 84mm and the other is Stock or 81mm...

You can choose a stepped deck or O-ring with Benson at no extra charge. Either option works great. Benson likes the O-ring best but I lean toward the step deck. Personally I use both styles with equal success.

Stock headgasket if stock bore or .5mm over, if B20 or CRVTEC then stock B20 headgasket, you can also use a Cometic MLS gasket but not the HP gasket with the extra fire ring. Also if you are overbore you can get stock overbored gaskets from GE and RS Machine.

Just remember, O-ring block goes with Non Oringed gasket, and vice versa.
2 copper O-rings won't go together.

With Benson, You can't go wrong, I have had O-ringed and step decked block with great success. Either way will work fine
