I believe all GT-series have a built in restrictor in it.

My GT doesn't have a restrictor built in. Ask the seller to take a picture of the oil inlet.

negative

.035 is the usual restrictor for the garrets

Certain GT-series turbo's have a restrictor built into the housing, some do not, I'm not 100% sure on where they stop manufacturering them built-in.

In the past, I've always ran a .035" restrictor at the inlet for the smaller frame GT series with no problems. A $12 savings by not going with one, isn't worth the potential of destroying the center cartridge and gettied denied for warranty by Garrett.

This is a picture of my GT35R, I had the same question awhile back.

Maybe someone can chime in and tell me if this is a built in restrictor to help all of us out.

To my knowledge the GT28r through GT35r all come with a built-in restrictor, but tying into what I said above.

Regardless if the turbo has a restrictor built-in or not, the GT series really don't need that much oil, which is why the restrictor is so small, and neccessarry.

Just run the restrictor, end thread.

Looks unrestricted to me. Restricted means 0.035" opening. That looks like the standard inlet. Just for reference here is a pic of a restrictor.

when i bought my 35R, it had a built in restrictor along with an aftermarket peice pictured above.

I beleive the seller installed the aftermarket peice before shipping.

That is a build in restrictor but it does not restrict enough oil for our high pressure pumps. You should add ~a .35 restrictor to any BB turbo and ~a .45 to any bushing turbo.

My GT30 has the built in restrictor and I just got the reverse flare fitting from ATPturbo.com. They have restrictors if you want them, or the flare fitting if you just want to go with the built in restrictor.
