Default Base distributor timing with hondata

i need to do maintainance on my car, i'm running hondata s200, but what should distributor timing be? is it supposed to be the same for everyone (16 degrees) or it depends on the tuner.

Depends on the engine...but for most it is 16.

Someone on here just asked this same question.

Always keep the base distributor timing to stock.

Tune the ignition map with the hondata.

my car has already been tuned, i can't get a hold of the tuner because he's not diong that stuff anymore. so i'm just left guessing.

if i set it to 16, and for some reason it was tuned with 18, will that lead to trouble?

No...but the car will have a little less power is all.

2 degrees will be subtracted from all points in the ignition maps in your case.

so only less power, but no damage/detonation?

i'm guessing it would be worse if i set it to 18 and it was tuned to 16? right?

You can always find someone who tunes hondata to read your chip and tell you what the base timing was set to.
