I just sold a turbo at auction on EBAY, and someone emailed to tell me that it isn't a Ball bearing turbo which is what I sold it as. I'm not sure if he was messing with me or what. When I bought it, the ad specified "wet floating ball bearings" (yeah the one from SSA or Stone Racing), so I thought I was describing it correctly. Can anyone verify whether these turbos are actually ball bearing or not? I just don't want to cheat this guy if I described it wrong . Is there any way to tell by looking at it, or how would I know? Please help!

Has anyone disassembled the t3/t4 turbo that these guys sell so you can tell me for sure if it was bb or not? I want to hurry and close this deal one way or the other so I can ship the guy his part monday if possible.

I need to get back with this guy by monday. Hopefully someone will have a good answer to help me out by then... . Otherwise I'll have to let him off since I don't know. I may just try to take the thing apart, but I don't know how.

 

Never mind. I got tired of waiting for someone to swoop in and save me so I rolled up my sleeves (ok, I've got short sleeves to start with ) and tore it down so I could find out for myself. Guess what? Two brass thrust bearings. Not a single ball "anything" anywhere. I got ripped by ssautochrome . Well, I'm not gonna rip this dude off the same way, so I just emailed him to tell him what is up. Maybe he'll want to buy a regular t3/t4? Yeah right SSautochrome is about to get served.

BTW. If you've ever bought the t3/t4 with "wet floating ball bearings" from ssautochrome, hotrodheaders, stone racing, xs power, etc - you probably got ripped off too. If I knew more about turbos I'd have known better I guess. After thinking about it, wet floating and ball bearing is a contradiction, but lust blinded me. Sigh. Anyway, this company is the scum of the auto performance industry. Watch out. And someone should sticky this.
