that price sounds about right but you wont know the full price until they check it out. I was going to get mine rebuilt but i rather just buy a new one for 600 and sell mine as is and have someone else deal with having it rebuilt because you never know the quality of a shops work til it is too late. Hopefully someone will chime in with a reputable shop you can take it to locally.

Don't know where you're looking, but if it is a 57 "trim", that is actually a very common turbocharger. But it is best to measure your wheels to know what is equivalent. But I don't for one second believe that there isn't anything that matches that application be it from Garrett , Precision, or even *gulp* Comp turbo.

yes there is 57 trim turbos..
but it is not the same as mine..
some have different bolt pattern for the down pipe
and from what i heard is that different brands use different material/ sizes for their turbo meaning i would have to tune again...

A turbonetics 57 trim t04e is the same as every other non ebay 57 trim. Turbine housings are swappable and 9 times out of 10 you can just order it with the right turbine housing.

Well, a rebuild is cheaper than a new turbo. Assuming the wheels are good it's the way to go if and only if you can find a reputable shop to do the rebuild.
Sometimes parts simply wear out, The shop could get the turbo apart and find out the turbine wheel has bearing surface damage, heat scoring, gauging, etc. At that point, rather than finding new parts to put in a used CHRA, I'd cut my losses and buy a new unit. Considering the advances in new technology and wheel design I'd look at a new model. The "t" series wheels have been around for the better part of 30 years.
