I'm not sure about the backfire but I've had cases where stuttering in a certain RPM range was caused by spark plug wires. Might want to try swapping out with a friend to see if it fixes the problem. Good luck.

I'd be interested in hearing some more opinion.

I've run into the same problem. b18b, 450 dsm injectors, uber, all that

When was your last tune done? You have to realize that every engine is created EXACTLY the same of the factory floor, but over time the engine will crack and warp here and there so VE and the way the engine breathes will change over time. That's why factory fuel and ignition maps are conservative. If you tuned over a year ago go tune again. What might have happened is that your engine may have started breathing a little differently and you now need a new partial throttle tune that's all. Weather effects things as well if you use Hondata/Uber/Crome.

I'm only mentioning this ^^ after you've done all the basic procedures like ignition and fuel fixups.

we did a little messing with uber, and apparently on the StockGSR bin, vtec is set at 4100 rpms. raised it up to 5200, problem fixed. smooth transition now
