Default Bad Precision Intercooler, take a look

So I ordered a brand new 600hp precision intercooler. Long story short it showed up looking like complete crap, all oxidized and tarnished looking with these weird burn marks on it. Im a very easy guy to deal with and would just flip it around if only it was on one side but its not. The company I bought it from was extremely nice and helpful and sent an email to precision and this I quote is there response.. "Those marks are from the manufacturing process, all of the cores have marks like that. It is purely aesthetic and will not hurt the performance or reliability" WTF!! yeah I can see its just cosmetic but damn its gonna be the first thing you see when I roll up and I didn't pay $400 to have an ugly Intercooler, anyways has anyone had one like this??

EEK.... that just sucks. Go get the Black Mishimoto "R" line like Calidad did, or go with the Vibrant Intercooler setup.

I doubt if Precision or their dealer will accept this intercooler back if you're unsatisfied, as it may be only considered to be an "aesthetic" defect, and not a functional one.

You shouldnt have to do this, but a piece of scotch brite should take that right off.

Just sent it back to the supplier, had to pay $28 to ship it back but the difference from it to the mishimoto is almost $100 bucks so win win for me....

Only question to shodan or anyone who might know, the mishimoto "R" series has 3" outlets.. Isnt that a little on the large side if not too big??

That's the frames that hold it together that cause that. The frames get stuck to it with flux or what ever compound the manufacturer uses to braze the corres together. I see that at work all the time.

Not if you use coupler reducers. from 3"--2.5"

the other alternative is the Vibrant 12816, but may be a little large for you.

For that price (almost exactly) you can have ETS make you a custom one with the core/endtank size and placement wherever you want. I just had one built for a friend a few weeks ago that turned out great.

I know about ETS. As long as they use a Garrett core, that'd be great. Otherwise, if they're just using a VIbrant core like I've shown above, Tomato vs. Tomaaato.

*EDIT*-they don't use Garrett Cores

That's not my question or issue. (As a former Evolution 6 and 9 owner..). I don't have a problem with ETS. But ETS isn't needed.. He's a universal application on a honda, vs. from ETS who uses the same Vibrant cores. going "custom" is not logically necessary, when a standard universal application is more than appropriate and a variety of locations to pick one up..
