Default Bad day at the dyno,,PSA

Well, I must have tuned a million cars on the dyno over the years, I throught I had run into just about everything.
Last night while tuning a turbo CRX we had built I had a slight accident, I was almost done with the low boost tune when I noticed I was getting a lot of interference from the tach pick up.
Now at this point I have to mention the brakes are very weak on this dyno and it took about 45 seconds for the wheels to stop after a pull.
So the car just did 280whp at 8.5 psi, I jumped out the car to fix the tach pick up when my right foot got sucked under the front wheel and the roller. I happened so fast , I remember someone pulling me out from half way under the car, saying" Do you want an ambulance" , I'm was like, "What the hell just happened"
My right foot is as fat as hell and a tire mark up my leg to about my knee are the wounds.
I was very lucky, I hurt like hell and I will post some pictures later.

I just want the folks that dyno ,and take things for granted to be careful. I have done this so many times and didn't really think much of it.
I had worked since 7am that day and it happened about 8pm .

Thanks for reading, just wanted to bring to everyones attention.

Glad you're ok and it was not serious. Accidents tend to happen more later on in the day when your working late and are tired.

accidents happen, look how many dyno runs you've done without any mishaps. Problems/accidents are bound to happen no matter how careful you try to be. glad your injuries weren't life threatening.

From what I've seen, they don't need alcohol to impair their poor judgement...

Give what a 1 ton mass can do to the human body, I never get in the path or in front of the wheels until its stopped. At least you aren't seriously hurt, and I bet you learned a lesson.

Man John. I am glad you are ok. We take the cars down to at least 10kph or stopped before we get around the car/engine bay just to make sure we don't brain fart and stand on the roller. Glad you are ok man.

Damn sorry to hear that. Glad you are ok though. Being tired and operating the dyno can be dangerous sometimes.

glad to hear you're ok.

I've seen a few dyno mishaps in my past. Luckily, unlike this one, they weren't involving people..

I read this thread earlier and it inspired me to start a shop related accidents thread over in the welding/fab forum: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2203338

Thanks guys,
I just wanted to bring to the attention of those of us that do this all the time and don't think about it.
The brakes usually bring the wheels to a halt fairly quick and I stay in the car untill they stop, but I was tired of waiting and jumped out each time.
My ankle is pretty thick and haurts like hell, but at least it wasn't worse.
Again, thanks for the kind words.

thats lazy from the dyno operator, depending on dyno model it takes about 15 - 20 mins to change them... it can be done while taking one car down and strapping the next.

hope you get better soon regardless

wow, thats crazy.... good thing your ok for the most part.

you definately wanna get that ankle xray'd or checked out. letting it heal itself for too long in unknown condition may not be the best thing to do... you might end up later in life having to have it rebroken and set, or have issues with it hurting whenever you have weight on it.

I have always stayed in the car untill the wheel come to a complete stop. This was one of those nights when things are not going as smooth as they should, and waiting 45 seconds or so for the rollers to stop seemed forever.
Lesson learned, Just want to pass it on.
