bad cylinder? Compression question.
Ok, i did a compression test on my b18a. It was
140-175-175-170
My car burns oil when I rev high but under normal driving its not bad, just alittle. It also leaks at the cam seal which i'm fixing right away. My question is should i throw my turbo setup on now or wait till i have money to rebuild the motor? I'd like to run 6-8 psi the way it is right now. The motor runs very solid, just uses abit of oil. Also could the problem be in my cylinder head or would it be limited to the rings? Thanks alot.

id find out why that cylinder is low and go from there....your probly gonna have to rebuild sometime soon and i wouldnt wont to blow that motor up with a turbo and have to spend even more money... my vote, rebuild now

obviously a rebuild would be smart, but lets say it would take another year to get the car on the road cause by the time its done there would be snow on the ground again. what would you do in my shoes.

unless you hear a knock, or anything, you should be ok for a year.. but, then your tubo'ing it... unless you have it tunned.. im sure a turbo would add insult to your condition.
i say you'll be ok... but you and i both know, you should get it rebuilt.
other than the stroke not being balanced, since that one cyl isn't up to par, i think all you would loose out on is 100% horsepower... other than that, you should be ok.
now... 15+ PSI, unbalanced.. your asking for problems.. i don't think 6 PSI would make a differance.

did you build the engine yourself? When I built mine, I got the rings in #1 inline which consumed oil. If you didn't build the engine, try some heavier oil (20w50).
