Bad compression numbers and...
I noticed smoke (oil) coming from my breather filter, so I did a compression test tonight. When I pulled the plugs I noticed an oil residue on the #2 & #3 plugs. Here are the compression test numbers...
185-70-70-185 This is a b18b. I guessing this is probably ringlands, right?
Please don't tell me this could be anything more than just rings...

If you just did a hard pull and it happened, than yes, it is probably your ringlands. If it has been getting worse, it might be your valve seals?

You really need to check that the cylinders did not become egg shaped or balooned out. You CANNOT do this by looking at them.

It has been pretty consistant...I'll probably take the head off this weekend when I have some time.
Can I check the shape of the cylinders with calipers?
Would it be wise to just buy a new block and drop in some forged pistons and rods?

How would I know if it was valve seals?

Cylinders 2 & 3 always run hotter than 1 & 4. That is why problems like this show up there. You have to have a machine shop check your bore diameters. They need to be checked all down the bore.
