Default backfiring in downpipe?

Hey guys, i have a b16-T with a 2.5 turbo back, tuned on hondata, @ 8.5psi

Lately when im driving the car seems fine unless i accelerate past 5k.. at WOT, the car will run fine up to around 5k which is usually around 7psi at that time and the car bogs and it sounds like the car is backfiring but the noise seems to be coming from in the engine bay. IT also isnt one loud noise.. but several sequential noises almost like loud sputtering.. other than that the car's overall driveability is fine. i tried to ease the motor above 5k rpm and i did then i opened the throttle up and it happened again only this time at around 6.5k rpm.

I occasionally get a primary o2 code but ive been running without o2 sensors for some time now with no problems. With the o2 code I also sometimes get a tps code.. this i usually just clear while moving by killing the ignition then popping the clutch.. could the tps be the source of this problem?? thanks

bad ignition components or a lousy tune

Yea im gonna say something with the ignition. What plugs are you running? What are they gapped to?How old are they? How old are your plug wires? How old is your dist.cap/rotor?

i dun think its the tune cuz it was fine for a few months after the tune but lately it seems to be riching out (my o2 is temporarily out of order), i thought it might be my ignition also but would that result in poor driveability only after 5k rpm?

thanks guys

your coil is likely arcing internally.

do u often pull plug wires and not ground the wire with a spark tester or such?
cause that damages ignition coils.

Sounds like the car may be blowing out the spark... Make sure your running BKR7E's and there gapped properly this would cause problems after 5,000 RPM. Your plugs may be fouled because your running no o2 and its running richer then usual

If its not firing, that unburnt fuel is being put throught the turbo, and likely is being ignited by another cylinder's exhaust. You'll usually see the fireballs come out of straight-through exhausts when they let off abrubtly, and a very rich mixture is ignited in the exhaust.
