Default backfire: harmful or harmless to turbo?

been running around the city open downpipe until i recieve my gasket flange. sometimes at high rpm my car backfires, especially when it hits the rev limit. sounds kool but is it harmful to the turbo?

i get backfire occasionally but not at the revlimit..
im interested to know too

it pops real loud for me too when I hit the rev limiter in any gear. The poping isn't necessarily bad, it's hitting the rev limiter that is bad. I've read that it's not the best on the rods because of the shock it delivers too them. Don't know if that's true though.

It's not bad to do it once in a while, but hitting it can't be good
