Default Baby Kahuna

So, building a turbo kit for my hatch, shooting for 300whp for now, with later goals of 400 to 450 whp.

so my question is; Does anyone have any experience with this turbo? http://www.slowboyracing.com/estore/...6&bestseller=Y
On a B16 how slow would the spool be, like a full boost by 7000 type of thing?

For the price you would pay on that turbo your best bet would be to just get a GT30R. I don't know much about that turbo but I can tell you it won't be very responsive on a 1.6. So many variables play a part in how fast a turbo will spool. However, depending on how much you boost, full boost wouldn't be 7,000. My guess is in the 5,000 range without knowing much about your setup. It also depends on what you consider full boost. Its full potential, maxed out or 5 PSI, 10 PSI? More details would help a bit.

I was also thinking about a 60-1, but i think that maybe be too big, unless i went BB, but..not in my budget unfortuantly.

B16a, completely stock (for now). i would only be pushing 7-10psi, this is on a .63a/r.

why not a 57 trim. it can make 400+whp, wouldnt be too bad on the stock motor, and its quite a bit cheaper now. also a gt3076r would be a drop in upgrade down the line for more power and better response.

A GT3255E would do well for over 400whp as well, and still responsive for the stock engine for 7-11psi of boost. They also come high heat ceramic coated out of the box for the same price as the slowboy unit.

How would an SC61 perform on the engine?, decent powerband? or would it come on fast and hard in the upper rpm range?

It'll come on like a LIGHT switch w/ that engine. no powerband, just hard and fast in the upper rpm band.

i think sc61 and 35r are comparable within reason. on a stock b16 i would expect too spool pretty late. and boost will kick in quick.

ok, so much to big for my goals. I had a member PM me about his turbo, GT3076r, lightly used for 825 shipped. im not sure what varients of the gt30 there are, BB, non BB ect. Even if its journal, how would the spool be on a .63a/r

30r would be good for a b16. specially with a .63 a/r. bb would be good too, keep more boost in between shifts.

unfortunatly its not a .63a/r is .82, but it is a BB, would it hurt the spool that much at .82 comepared to .63 if its BB?

might take longer to spool. but since its bb you wont loose much boost on shifts compared to a journal bearing.

thats what they all say....until you get a hit of "boost"...and that 7-10lbs doesnt do it anymore, so you just keep turning it up until ....pop! new motor time

7-10psi on a GT30R (mainly GT3076R) is out of its efficiency range. Until you get over a bar of boost, it will act like any other journal bearing T3/T4 60 trim. Bottom line.
