Default B20 VTEC turbo tuning comments

2nd time at the dyno, as usual I went last, in case she blew ...

Tried 3 different timing maps-
1) Hondata "Drag" map (~1.5 deg per #)
2) Same as above, except 0.5 deg per #
3) No retard at all (see setup at bottom)

Kept the 0.5 deg/lb map in
There were NO differences in Hp or torque (WTF?)

Changed the A/F around a little just to keep it around 12:1 (No changes)

Retarded the exhaust cam 2 deg, pick up LOTS of high end power (see graph)

Didn't mess with intake cam, it's advanced 2 deg (oops)... I know, that's wrong. I got the old "which way is up" thing going on at the dyno.

Reviewed my log on Datalogger, boost dropped off from 7.0 psi to 5.5psi by 7000. I need to change where my WG gets its signal from (from turbo outlet to IM)

I'm pretty happy right now, the car runs great, is very fast (5.0 eater for sure)... but I'll try once more after I get my new oil return line in...

did you take this same car to Exotic motorsports?
If you're the same person I think you are, you really need to get a 3" exhaust. Your motor should be making that kind of power without a turbo. I know that you use this car for the auto-x but come on you should be able to crank more power than that.

props for showing the multiple timing plots. & it's good to see what some cam timing can do.
good luck with the setup man.

Yea, that's me.

Umm, power yes, torque, no. A B20 VTEC with 11:1 compression and type R cams can make just above 200 Hp, but the torque is usually around 140 or so. Yea, I'll be going back once more. I don't like the "Butt dyno" ... that's how you get into trouble

pretty good for 5.5 psi, on my car with the b20/vtec at 9-10psi with a drag kit untuned (running under 10:1 after 5800) it made 229 whp and 202 ftlbs, and with this setup untuned still went 12.7 at 108.7mph.
