Default b20 sleeves

i have a question on b20 sleeves. i am about to get my b20 sleeved and i was reading that the b20 block usually runs into problems. something dosent seat right and coolant leaks into oil. is this true? from my understanding, the b20 block was just a b18 bored 3mm over. can someone please let me know what the difference is between the two blocks, and what is the weak link in sleeving a b20, if any? And also can someone tell me the difference between wet and dry sleeves? I am leaning towards darton sleeves.thanks in advance

once sleeved your problems are solved as far as weakness goes. and there should be no coolant issues providing you assemble it with care and good parts

Yes. Motor is built just lacking sleeves and a little head work. I was just reading that something was different with the b20 blocked opposed to the b18. Also, can someone please explain the difference between dry and wet sleeves

Only difference I can think of is of the molding / casting of the block when it's stock. Like stated before, your problems will be solved once the b20 is sleeved. Difference between wet and dry sleeves, from my understanding is wet sleeves have coolant flowing and dry sleeves do not.
If I'm incorrect someone please advise.

I had the same question about reliability of b20 block for FI

According to http://realstreetperformance.com/sto...87mm-2569.html

Darton notes that some B20 Blocks had thinner casting in the cylinder #2/3 area that led to problems with installing sleeves. It is recommended that you use an LS block and install the 84mm sleeves to get a 2.0L displacement as opposed to using a B20 block. It can be done, but it is not recommended.

im assuming when you're asking about dry sleeves referring to Darton dry sleevesfor thos they just machine out your old liners and push in the darton liners. the outer part of the sleeve in the waterjacket remains the same. wet sleeves they machine it all out and install a completely new sleeve. the wet sleeves are way stronger. the dry liners are better then oem but won't hold as well as the wet sleeve. I'd take a cncwerx block over the dry liners.
