B20 boost questions
Im planning,on boosting my b20 for a little weekend toy, I dont plan on running over 8 psi at any time. My question is how much boost can a stock b20 bottom end handle? And can I run stock injectors and fuel pump if im only pushing 5-7 pounds? If not can I just get bigger injectors? Thanks

Re: B20 boost questions
No, no, no......You havn't done your research....psi means nothing, you MUST have bigger injectors and have the ecu professionally tuned, if not, BOOM.
Do some more reading and research please.

Re: B20 boost questions
If you dont plan on running over 8psi why would it matter how much the stock bottom end can handle?
Theres threads upon threads over this exact topic. How much boost doesnt mean ****.
DSM 450's and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and fuel gauge, should be more than fine for only 5-7 pounds.
Im about to finish up my build, b20 vtec turbo. but im gonna push the limits on a stock b20 block. why? cus i like blowing **** up. In time we'll see which one goes out first, either sleeves or rod bolts. should be fun though. Im running a precision pt67mm turbo. huge turbo @ 1bar of boost.
GOOGLE search is your friend. USE him.

Re: B20 boost questions
These are the kind of statements that lead people to believe they can boost with no engine management/tuning...... Tisk Tisk ........not acceptable.

Re: B20 boost questions
Boost PSI means NOTHING!!! A 50 trim on 8psi will not make as much power as my 6262 on the same exact motor at the same boost, due to the ammount of air be pushed in to the engine. You need more than just turbo and injectors! As "boosted D" mentioned, you will need something to tell the injectors when to fire and how long. You will also need someone that knows what they are doing to tune it. You will also need a long list of parts: engine management, injectors, depending on injectors maybe a resistor box, fuel pump, regulator, turbo, manifold, intercooler, piping, map sensor, all the couplers and clamps. Turboing a car is not a cheap process. If you just want to blow the thing up run a 150 shot of nitrous, its cheaper

Re: B20 boost questions
just because i didnt mention anything about tuning doesnt mean it should be skipped. You must be stupid if you dont tune if you add more than just intake, header and exhaust.

Re: B20 boost questions
because injectors and a fpr is what he needs. didnt know i was supose to spoon feed every exactly detail. if you didnt know having to have a tune after you mod a car you shouldnt be boosting.
*In MY experiences over the past few years stock b20s will handle 275-320whp reliably shifting at 8k.
*Ive seen from 8lbs of boost to 14lbs of boost on STOCK BLOCK.
*All have lasted over a year.
*Get a tune not a basemap.
*You can run stock injectors but its not recommended. Your duty cycle will be probably close to 85-90 percent on stock injectors. which is why i suggest getting some dsm 450's WITH a resistor box. If your on a tight bugest evo8 fuel works. I watched as one was getting installed, and shortly after, tuned.
So OP you need to provide us with your turbo setup. what kind of turbo? blah blah blah.

You dont need a fuel pressure regulator, all you need is injectors and a tune, a fuel pump doesnt hurt.
And you cant use stock injectors for boost, the stock injectors will only support about 180 whp boosted at 90+ % duty cycle.
Give accurate info or dont give info at all please....

Re: B20 boost questions
Stock injectors + rising rate FMU = Boost possible, but not recommended (an old school way of doing things)
DSM injectors + rising rate FMU= too much fuel, and will wash piston rings bad idea
DSM injectors that are not cleaned and tested = honda BOOM, get something else no matter what you use.
Get the right parts and engine management to have a "fun daily".

Re: B20 boost questions
The only "decent basemap" is the one with a 1 psi boost-cut. This is only for you to be able to tiptoe to the dyno where proper tuning can be achieved. Unless your tuner is willing to street tune of course.
