Default b18c1 problems?

i have a b18c1 sleeved 81.00mm, cp 9:1, eagle rods/crank, b16a1 head, itr cams, blox valve springs/ret., std size supertech black valves, skunk2 intake mani, bbk 70mm tb and funneled spacer, 2.5" intercooler pipe, crappy tube and fin intercooler, mini ram, t3/to4e 60 trim.

so the weird part is it made 353whp and 292tq @ 16psi a few months ago and i attributed the tq falling off after 6500 to the b16a1 obd0 cams and a 2.5" exhaust. now i put in a set of itr cams and installed a 3" exhaust. i did the exhaust first on friday night and i did the cams on sat morning. i took the car for a ride with just the exhaust and no cams yet and i noticed it was severly low on power and my wideband read 9.9-10.2 when it used to be 11.0-11.5. it didnt make sense to me. i then put the cams in and took it for a ride with the same results. today at work i put it on the dyno and sure enough it was only at 250whp and was way rich. after my boss tuned it for me we got 320 at 16psi, this is the boost i made 353 on. the only thing that made sense was that my boost started to creep which it didnt do before with the 2.5" and b16 cams. we did a compression test to make sure no damage was done and it was 200psi accross the board. i also pulled the valve cover and checked the cams and they looked fine.

im stumped on this one so far and could really use any ideas you have. dont be scared to say even the stupidest things as i may have overlooked somthing.

this was the old 350hp graph, i dont have a new one but it follows the same curve like if it was running less boost.

well, for one thing with all those mods, you should've made more than 353whp. The vtec bump, power drops severely. That's not good. Then it looks like your boost is falling off up top.

Having any wastegate issues? I mean, you've got a good intake mani, good TB, valves, springs, retainers, but why cheap out and run OEM cams?

the tube and fin IC is good for flow but not super efficient........I'd say there's something wrong with your tune man. Timing is off or something, but the tune just isn't quality to be making that kind of power at that boost level.

I would suspect the tune more than the cams OEM cams are fine for a lot of power, actually in most cases changing them for boost is kind of pointless.

I would try to find another tuner if you dont see any of the obvious issues like wg surge. Something has to be holding you back and I can almost promise you it isnt the cams...

i notice your dyno graph doing an up and down wave motion, very similar to my recent dyno graphs..

i suspect valve lash adjustment is in order, and your cam over lap may have something to do with that as well.

i have noticed with big cams and low boost the dyno looks wavy, throw high boost on it, and it seems to smoothen out.

overlap makes sense too. Get some cam gears on there and tune out the overlap as much as possible.

although true what everyone is saying but, he also said he took the car for a ride with just the new downpipe the old cams and it was happening before he even touched the cams. But if he did the timing wrong that could have also added to the power loss.

i already had a 3" downpipe. checked the cam timing. i have cam gears and we picked up 30hp from advancing the intake cam 3*. i adjusted valve lash to .007 on the intake and .008 on the exhaust. no wastegate issues at all and the tuner is very good. i dont beleive the cams are the issue since i felt the power loss with only the exhaust changed.

the 350 whp dyno was in 35-40* weather. do you think it is possible that i lost 30 whp due to the 75* weather of the 320 dyno? the reason i ask is im thinking that maybe my mini-ram manifold is holding me back because its maxed out and the power loss is from the temp change. i borrowed a friends ramhorn and wg and im gonna get it on my car and see if thats the restriction.
