b18b1 turbo set up
I have a b18b1 with fully built bottom end. On the head i only have b&crower springs n retainers... the rest is all stock... planning on buyin a reliable turbo kit.. how much hp can i get with this head the way it is without doing anymore work?
The springs and retainers will allow you to run a higher rpm than stock without stressing out the valvetrain. As far as power, I'd suggest you set a power goal for yourself, and what you plan to do with the car. That will dictate the turbo choice for your needs. Good luck.
street setup... I want 380-400whp but the problem is that ls head doesnt flow good enough and i want to no wuts the max hp i can get with that head without having to do work on it... would the #s be 350? 360? 370? etc...
Just pick up some JG303 cams for 280 bucks and you can make plenty of power with the stock head and valve train. People make 350-400 on stock LS bottom ends with dual valve springs and the JG303 cams so with a built bottom end it should be attainable without a problem. Just when ordering the turbo kit get a real one and talk to the dealers and let them know your power goals and they will give you the correct size turbo.
IMO a 57 or 60 trim will get you to 400whp. but if you run the cams i recomended you would really like an sc6152e or sc6152s or a gt3582e then you've got plenty of choices from the new borg worner line of turbos that i personally dont know much about as for which one would work best for you but contact a BW dealer on here and they can give you alot of info.
I personally ran the jg303 cams with a t3/t67 and made power to 8800rpm with my old LS

crower cams are ok not my favorite. i would go with jg303's or bisi's. rocket also makes a ncie cam for the LS stock cams will make decent power though you dont HAVE to upgrade if you dont have the funds. and the jg303's are JG Engine Dynamics call them to order
the word you are looking for is what, not wut.
that said, stock axles are fine so long as you pre-load them at the track.
if i remember correctly, people were seeing good gains from using n/a cams instead of special profile "turbo" cams. the bisi cam is good, jg's are good, ive seen good results from brian crowers as well. if you run cams i would run an aftermarket intake manifold like skunk2 or blox. 57 trim wont do you wrong and will make 400hp, so will a 60 trim, 60-1, sc34, sc61 etc...
