Default b18b or b16a2 turbo......

im debating swapping in a b18b or b16a2 into my civic.
now i want to purchase the greddy kit for this new engine, in order to keep it street legal

the b18b will give me torque until the turbo spools up
but the b16a2 will pull harder up top

oh and i plan on using stock internals

what are your guys opinions?

If you go stock internals. I would say the b18, get a thicker head gasket and you can boost about 12-12psi safely and you have to keep on mind, the motor will be much cheaper!

go with the b18b as you can run a high psi on your stock internals compared to the b16a2

i agree with sirkid. the b18b will need more boost to get the hp of the b16 on less boost. i would even say that the b16 on 8 psi would be faster than the b18b on 11 or 12 considering everything else stock. you can also put a thicker head gasket on the b16 and push 10 psi well within the safe limits.

How 'bout a B16A bottom end with a B18B head? Cheapest of both worlds!

Naw, just kidding. I vote for the B18B, better low end torque, a better street motor IMO.

its all prefrence!
b16 isnt that bad for street as people make it out to be.
do some research... and make you own choice!

true, the B16A makes up for it's dearth of low-end power a little with it's shorter gearing ratios.

But I think the dude wanted our opinions on the matter, not a "make your own choice" response. I don't think that helps him a whole lot.
