B16a2 want to turbo
I have a stock 99 civic si that I eventually want to boost.. before I add a turbo (10-12 psi).. what steps should I take to build up the engine, I'd hate just slap a turbo on a stock motor and blow the S*** up lol.
also...
Im unsure if I'd use NOS,
btw, I've tried searching the forum but couldn't find a clear guideline on how to build the engine.. everyone says put a turbo in it... and blank that's it... lol

Stay under 300hp and you wont need anything else but a turbo kit, hondata, injectors and a good tune (as long as your motor is healthy).
A quality manifold and turbo are a must for longevity.
Some people manage with cheap intercooler/piping/bov.
Spend the money on the right parts.......and i'm assuming the "NOS" comment was a joke....

lol I was semi-serious about using nos.. personally I can't see the worth of nos if im turboing.. some say do it with a small turbo, lol and others say don't blow your motor and stick with a good turbo
Where are you getting your information? You're literally all over the place. For starters, PSI means nothing. Get that notion out of your head. 15 PSI through a T15, you might as well just hook a blow drier up to your intake. 10 PSI through an HX40W will turn your motor to slag, if you can even convince it to spool. Figure out what power goals you're aiming for, as well as how you want to use that power, and work from there. Your power goals will also determine if any engine building is necessary.
As for NOS, using it on a small turbo seems pointless to me. I've heard of many people using it on a big turbo to get it to spool faster, but quite honestly, if you're asking these questions, that's a bit beyond your level. It's also not necessary with a turbo properly sized for street use.
Mileage and maintenance are all good and dandy, but if you want to be 100% sure, do a compression test to make sure that it's well within service limits (90% of "new" spec would be ideal), and do a complete ignition system tune-up with OEM components.

Appreciate the feed back.. my goal is to get around 250 whp. I sell Hondas, so next week I'll get those tests ran & update yall on the results..
I felt the same way about nos not being worth it if boosting; from reading soo many different forums about it, ive seen ALL kind of answers, some more rediculous than others.. lol the reason why I wanted to ask myself to get some clearity

what if you go whit set like this nippon pistons and forged rods http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nippon-Racing-JDM-Honda-Turbo-B-Series-Pistons-Rings-Scat-Rods-B16A-81mm-HOT-NEW-/151245339828?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2336ecbcb4&vxp=mtr
The NOS would quickly find the weak link in the motor like EsotericImage said. As entertaining as it might be to see it go kaboom its just going to cost you time and money in the long run. Most dynos will charge you a min fee just for getting onto the roller, so imagine 5 minutes into tuning and your motor gives up, they still charge you a couple hundred..
